Animal Advocacy in Buncombe County
Brother Wolf Animal Rescue is composed of a group of animal advocates whose mission is to work towards the end of euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals as a means of population control in our community. Working collaboratively with other like-minded organizations, we strive to achieve this goal through aggressive spay/neuter, education, and our foster care system, providing dogs and cats with a temporary sanctuary and comprehensive training until they can be placed in a permanent, carefully screened home. We take pride in caring for our cats and dogs in a holistic manner, tending to their physical and emotional well being until adoption. Every animal is given indvidualized care, increasing his/her adoptability and then matched with an appropriate home.
We are also working closely with Buncombe County, and other animal rescue groups, in a program called "Save a Life" Campaign, whose goal is to end the euthanization of healthy adoptable companion animals in Buncombe County by the Year 2012.

On MARCH 12TH Brother Wolf Animal Rescue will offer $10 NEUTERS with Rabies vaccination and microchip to 50 male cats. North Carolina has the 3rd highest euthanasia rate in the country and some shelters use the most inhumane methods to end life such as heartsticking, decompression chambers, and gassing. WHY NEUTER?
- A neutered dog or cat will be safe from some cancers. Neutering nearly eliminates the risk of hernias and tumors.
- Pets are happier at home and not as inclined to wander, risking danger from cars, disease, poison, and cruel people.
- Dogs display Increased concentration when training and at work.
- Cats and dogs have a drastic decrease in the desire to mark territory or spray. This includes inside the house.
- Less aggressive without the raging testosterone, and less likely to attack other pets, adults or children.
Run for the Paws 
Join us Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 1:30 PM for Run for the Paws 5K Run & 1 M Doggie-Walk! 5K run is for humans only, while the 1 mile walk is for pets and their humans. Prizes awarded to the first dog, the oldest dog, and the smallest dog to cross the finish line in the 1 mile walk. Stay after the race and enjoy the Pet Wellness Fair where you can give your pup a free nail trim or get answers to your concerns from our Ask the Vet table. Face painting for the kids and lots of animals will be available for you to bring home and love. Plus, LOTS more! Bring the whole family for a fun-filled afternoon.
